I’ve been working in clay for two years and still have much to learn. I’m trying to push my boundaries in terms of form and scale, learning by my mistakes and profiting from happy accidents—after all it’s only a piece of clay.  It’s fascinating and I’m having fun.  I’m inspired by the beautiful and symmetrical shapes into which mere clay can be drawn up, by the work of other potters and by the thoughts in my head. I love Moon Jars—large, near-spherical pots originating in Korea.  In Britain, Adam Buick and others are continuing and developing this form. I’m making smaller versions for myself, together with potsRead More →

Maggie Humphry Royal Cambrian Academy Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Maggie was a successful ceramicist from her early twenties through to the end of the Millennium. She has many ceramic murals in Britain and abroad, and her distinctive smaller pieces exhibited in leading ceramics galleries. Over the past 15 years or so, Maggie has concentrated on drawing and painting. She’s constantly working with different approaches and experimenting with different media. She also ventured into print making, but she much prefers the excitement and challenge of painting and drawing. Every work takes her many, many hours (some take weeks, or months) of changing, tweaking, experimenting, addingRead More →

Heidi Magdalen artist heidi@heidimagdalen.com www.heidimagdalen.com fb Heidi Magdalen Heidi Magdalen. I have been living in the Telford area for 10 years now but I grew up in the Welsh mountains with very few modern distractions, I soon developed a vivid imagination and an inherent need to try to record my minds meanderings. I use a technique called ‘Automatism ‘ first developed by the Surrealists in the early part of the twentieth century. It is to create without conscious self censorship. The images appear projected on to the clay or page. I just have to keep it truthful and try not to control the image tooRead More →

Maggie Cameron Artist and Art teacher Maggie Cameron has lived and worked locally for the past 15 years. Her latest work can be seen as a series of thoughts and meditations which touch upon issues such as the environment, identity, beauty and the journey of life. The recurring symbols of the nautilus shell, the spiral, the wave and the circular form help to serve as reminders of this journey as well as becoming motifs which indicate repetition, protection or encasement. Her series of mixed media pieces also aim to explore meaning through process, often using found, discarded or torn objects or papers to investigate bothRead More →
