2022 APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
In 2022, Secret Severn Arts will be organising their seventh annual art exhibition. There will be a number of changes and these developments will offer more choice and diversity to the participating artists and general public alike. Artists who want to join the 2022 show will be able to choose from a number of options. These options recognise the importance of maintaining the quality of art exhibited at Fusion and Jackfield Tile Museum whilst also offering all artists – aspiring or established – the opportunity to exhibit at an open or ‘pop-up’ studio, giving visitors to meet the artists. Artists must reside in Shropshire.
APPLICATIONS CLOSE Friday 18th March 2022
MAIN EXHIBITION
Every year, Secret Severn curates a fine art exhibition at the Fusion in Jackfield, this years show will continue from Fusion through to the wonderful Jackfield Tile Museum. Artists accepted for the Exhibition will be asked to submit up to 10/12 pieces of wall hung work for display. All art submitted must be new (created since the last art trail) and form a coherent body of work. We also welcome three dimensional art, such as ceramics, glass, sculpture, jewellery and textiles. We aim to hang/display at least six pieces of work from each accepted artist and we will be grouping art together to demonstrate a relationship between each piece within the body of an artist’s work. Artists are encouraged to bring “reserve” pieces, which will be kept as replacements should work be sold and taken away. Artists may also be able to have current and other work in browsers depending on space.
There will be limited table-top space for three dimensional works of art and we ask that jewellery designers supply their own display in a designated space.
The acceptance of all art work is at the discretion of the curating committee and there will be a commission fee on sales of 20%.
OPEN STUDIOS
Artists with established studios/galleries may wish to be part of the Open Studios and be featured in our brochure. For example, artists with studios at Fusion or Maws Craft Centre may wish to choose this option. Alternatively, artists living in the Ironbridge Gorge/Telford area may want to open their own studio to the public during the event. If you would like your own studio to be featured please provide details below. There will be a dedicated area in within the brochure featuring all Open Studios
POP UP STUDIOS
Artists may choose to exhibit at a pop-up studio at Jackfield Village Hall. Exhibitors will have a dedicated space to show their work and are invited to demonstrate/work in their studio space for the duration of the exhibition. Participating artists will be expected to co-operate together to arrange a rota, and to ensure that there is always at least one person in attendance for the duration of the exhibition. We ask that your studio space always has an attractive display on show even when you are not in attendance. Pop-up studios must comply with the usual health and safety regulations, risk assessments and necessary insurances. *We have a fabulous new ‘pop up’ option available in a beautiful victorian conservatory, space for 4 or 5 artists.
ADVERTISE WITH US
We have a limited number of advertising spaces available in the booklet for businesses in and around the Gorge. The event creates increased footfall, so if you would like to attract additional visitors to your business, this is a great opportunity. Last year, around 50% of our visitors were from outside the Telford postcode area and 25% were from much further afield. With options to advertise in our brochure, flyers and other marketing material, there’s an option to suit you and your business.
