I believe act of looking is a complex psychological process; my paintings explore looking and making connections with people and places. Looking whilst mark making generates interactions with memories and stories this then effects the looking. My desired goal is to inspire those who see my work to connect with the process of looking, being emotionally open, reflecting and noticing. I’ve always communicated through
I just love paint. And I love to travel. And to teach other people to paint. That’s it really. In recent years I have studied with master painters from Italy and the USA, all the time searching for traditional skills and methods which can be applied to paintings of a modern world. I give workshops and classes on various aspects of drawing and painting and also painting holidays for those who want to work outside the studio. I have always been a painter, I graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting and later studied for a teaching certificate specialising in post 16 education. My
Maggie Humphry Royal Cambrian Academy Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Maggie was a successful ceramicist from her early twenties through to the end of the Millennium. She has many ceramic murals in Britain and abroad, and her distinctive smaller pieces exhibited in leading ceramics galleries. Over the past 15 years or so, Maggie has concentrated on drawing and painting. She’s constantly working with different approaches and experimenting with different media. She also ventured into print making, but she much prefers the excitement and challenge of painting and drawing. I trained as a textile designer (C&G) for 4 years followed by BA Arts degree at Wolverhampton. Worked as Art lecturer at Wolverhampton. I set up my retail business 16 years ago and have continued to sell my own work but now have more time to dedicate to my art. Much of my work is inspired by my travels and landscape plays a big part. My paintings are usually acrylic but often have the addition of textiles. My studio is in Fusion at The Tile Museum, Jackfield.
