I believe act of looking is a complex psychological process; my paintings explore looking and making connections with people and places. Looking whilst mark making generates interactions with memories and stories this then effects the looking. My desired goal is to inspire those who see my work to connect with the process of looking, being emotionally open, reflecting and noticing. I’ve always communicated throughRead More →

I just love paint. And I love to travel. And to teach other people to paint. That’s it really. In recent years I have studied with master painters from Italy and the USA, all the time searching for traditional skills and methods which can be applied to paintings of a modern world. I give workshops and classes on various aspects of drawing and painting and also painting holidays for those who want to work outside the studio. I have always been a painter, I graduated with a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting and later studied for a teaching certificate specialising in post 16 education. ILLUSTRATOR & PRINTMAKER I trained as a graphic designer at Lincoln College of Art, and have worked for many years as a graphic designer and illustrator primarily in greetings, publishing and packaging for clients around the world. Recently, I have used lino printing as a medium in my work on heritage and specialist projects for clients such as The Canal & River Trust and Middleport Pottery. This interest has led me to produce limited edition linoprints inspired by the landscape and heritage around me – from the Ironbridge Gorge to the Stiperstones and beyond. I also enjoy sharing the skill of printmaking and hold monthlyRead More →

I’ve been working in clay for three years and still have much to learn. I’m trying to push my boundaries in terms of form and scale, learning by my mistakes and profiting from happy accidents—after all it’s only a piece of clay.  I find it fascinating and I’m having fun. For me, clay is a tactile medium and my pots are made to be handled as well as seen.  I hope that the pleasure I get from drawing up a form on the wheel flows through into the feel and appearance of the finished and fired pot. Although I’m also starting to sculpt in clay, myRead More →

Coming from a fashion and textiles background I love colour and pattern. Cutting lino, building up layers, seeing what is evolving, it’s mostly planned, but with some lovely surprises along the way. By hand burnishing no two prints come out the same. I have a studio/gallery down at Maws.
